Mad Friday 2019

If you didn’t make it to Bassment on mad Friday then you seriously missed out!

The studios last event of the year featured some of the best sounds from the UK dance scene, powered by Sinai Sound System.

When an event starts of so strong, with acts such as Drone, Jook, Boofy and HI5 Ghost early in the line up, then you know it is going to be a heavy one. It really did not disappoint.

Another personal highlight for me was grime DJ, Sir Spyro, who really helped to elevate the already amazing mood in the venue with his insane hour long set. As well as Sir Spyro, featured DJ, Joker also really helped to surge the vibes of the night. Everyone I spoke to on the night was buzzing for his set and he truly lived up to the hype.

In terms of atmosphere, Bassment is unbeatable, with people from all over west Yorkshire coming to the events. This alone has created a community of people who are all there for the same reasons, to enjoy music and have a sick time. In my opinion, this is what really made the event. Mad Friday was the most packed out event of the year and it felt as though I was surrounded by people who all had the same motives as I did.

Overall, the mad Friday event was indeed mad.

From Bassment -

Thank you Antonia for your kind words, we really appreciate the time you have taken on this review. Also, thank you for everyone who has landed on this page, we’re planning to roll out more event reviews in the future. We aim to further contribute to Huddersfield’s journalism scene (especially music related) by rolling out more event reviews.

In our eyes, Mad Friday was as close to perfect as you can get. Growing up, we used to dream about attending Plastic People and FWD>> events (amongst others) due to their contributions to the UK’s bass music scene and the communities they’ve built. The early dubstep and grime movements inspire us still to this day, and for those that know their history, that was extremely evident at our Mad Friday event.

We’re huge fans of the Sector 7 record label, and after meeting Boofy and co at our Mad Friday event the year previous, we knew this would be a perfect dynamic. Big shouts to family, very much looking forward to linking up again.

Thanks again to everyone who came to party with us. It’s one that won’t be forgotten about easily.
